Starcraft 2's single player campaign missions are not done in a linear fashion, instead the game evolves from completing previous missions and you will have different mission options to pick from as you progress. Sometimes it is important to pick the right missions in a specific order so that the game is easy to beat on hard and brutal difficulty. You can get a good order of missions from Joana's Starcraft 2 brutal campaign missions guide. Although you will need to become a member of his site in order to view his brutal difficulty videos (which are done rather awesome by the way).
DISCLAIMER 1: This guide may contain SPOILERS. As this is a mission mechanics guide, I don't really talk about much beyond what's listed in the achievement descriptions in-game, but still, you have been warned.
DISCLAIMER 2: This guide is mostly comprised of what I have personally observed, with a few additions from forum threads. I don't make any guarantees of accuracy, but if you see any inaccurate information, please post so I can correct it. After beating the campaign and logging onto the forums, I noticed there have been quite a bit of confusion regarding campaign achievements, especially Liberty Completionist and HUIRN. This guide is intended to clear up any misinformation regarding achievements and provide suggestions on the best way to unlock various achievements. Smash And Grab ChicagoGENERAL NOTESAlways, ALWAYS play while connected to Battlenet. Actions taken in offline mode do not count towards achievements. If you ever get a message saying connectivity has been lost, immediately pause the game and wait for the connection to be restored. (An easy way to check if you're connected is to press F9 for the Achievements menu.) While the game only tracks your current campaign on the Single Player homepage, you can start a new campaign at any time, and you can swap between multiple campaigns by using saves and loads. Managing save files for multiple campaigns makes obtaining certain achievements much easier. MISSION LIST This is the list of all 29 missions in the campaign, how to unlock them, and what achievements are tied to them. For the 'complete all mission objectives' achievements, all optional objectives will be listed (obviously you'll have all main objectives cleared if you beat the mission). Missions are put into one of seven story arcs: Mar Sara missions, Colonist missions, etc. Each story arc has a line of missions that must be completed in order, but you can jump back and forth between arcs as much as you like. Exceptions: You must complete the Mar Sara plot line before starting other plot lines, and once the first Final mission has begun all other missions are cut off. Once a mission is beaten it is available in the Archive on the Hyperion bridge. You can replay the mission to earn any of the three achievements associated with that mission, or to beat the mission on a higher difficulty for Liberty Completionist. NOTE: There seems to be a bug where beating a mission on Hard or Brutal in the Archive will sometimes not give credit towards the Hard 5+ or Brutal 5+ achievements. It's unknown what exactly causes them to not register. Liberty Completionist does not seem to be affected by this bug. There are three points where you must choose between two objectives. This choice is made before the mission begins, and once made, is irrevocable. Beating the chosen mission will unlock BOTH missions in your Archive, so you can go back and beat the other one for Completionist status. These three missions are Haven (Safe Haven / Haven's Fall), New Folsom (Breakout / Ghost of a Chance), and Char Mission #2 (Belly of the Beast / Shatter the Sky). Additionally, there is a secret mission in the Rebellion plot line, 'Piercing the Shroud'. To unlock it, you must play the 'Media Blitz' mission and destroy the Science Facility in the lower right corner of the map. Apparently this MUST be done on your first playthrough of the mission, doing it from the Archive will not unlock the secret mission. MAR SARA MISSIONS Achievements:

MISCELLANEOUS ACHIEVEMENT LIST CAMPAIGN COMPLETION ACHIEVEMENTS
Remember that any mission can be replayed from the Archive on any difficulty to work towards Completionist, but you must have beaten the mission through the campaign normally. See the earlier note regarding the bug with Hard 5 and Brutal 5. When you play a 'choice' mission, both choices are added to the archive. Don't forget about the secret mission 'Piercing the Shroud'. Hurry Up It's Raid Night: Complete the WoL campaign under 8 hours of total played mission time on Normal The best way to do this is to start a new campaign and only play the plot lines required for completion. I'm not sure if going back and reducing your clear time with the Archive after beating the campaign can trigger HUIRN- outside confirmation would be appreciated. SOCIAL ACHIEVEMENTS
LOST VIKING ACHIEVEMENTS
PURCHASE ACHIEVEMENTS
On your first playthrough of the game, save your credits until you've unlocked all units. Save your game, then buy every upgrade in a category to get the achievement. Reload and repeat for the other four categories, plus mercenaries. The only other option is to earn your upgrades across multiple campaigns, since you will NOT have enough credits to buy everything in one go. There have been instances where I've obtained the credit reward for a mission multiple times by playing it through the Archive, but it doesn't happen every time so I don't know if it's a bug or intended. Master Mechanic: Unlock the above five achievements Band of Legends: Purchase all seven Mercenary contracts RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENTS
Zerg and Protoss upgrades can be purchased as soon as they're available- what you pick doesn't affect achievement availability. Do keep in mind that once you select an upgrade, the opposite upgrade is permanently unavailable (unless you start a new campaign). Master Technician: Unlock the above two achievements TO-DO LIST Add notes on all mission requirements and rewards (will do this as I play through the campaign again) List all optional objectives for each mission in place of the 'Complete mission objectives' line in achievements Confirm requirements for obtaining HUIRN Add or fix any additional info contributed by others
Starcraft 2 Guides
- Joana the Speed Leveler is Coming Back to Classic WoW -
There is a total of 29 missions in Starcraft 2, but you only need to complete 26 of them to beat the game. The game's story is separated into different chapters, including: Mar Sara, Colonists, Artifact, Covert, Rebellion, Prophecy, and the final missions in Char.
Every mission has three achievements that you can gain. The first achievement of each mission is always the name of the mission and involves beating all the main objectives and bonus objectives. And the other two achievements in each mission are random feats of something they want you to accomplish. Weapons in fallout new vegas.
As you play through the campaign, sometimes you will be given a choice to either go with mission 'a' or mission 'b' (it's either one or the other), these will affect the story line slightly but not drastically. An example of this is when you have to chose between going with Tosh for the Breakout mission or helping Nova with the Ghost of a Chance mission. You can always play the skipped missions through the mission log (from the bridge).
Here is a list of missions and when they can become available, and what you get for doing them:
Mar Sara
The Raynor missions are the first three in the game. Credits may not be used until after Zero Hour.
Colonist
The Hanson missions can be started after completing the Mar Sara missions.
Artifact
The Tychus missions can be started after completing the Mar Sara missions.
Covert
The Tosh missions can be started after completing a total of 4 missions.
Rebellion
The Horner missions can be started after completing a total of 6 missions.
Prophecy
The Zeratul missions can be started after completing The Dig.
These missions are played as the Protoss. The player's normally available Terran units, mercenaries, armory upgrades, or research do not matter in these missions. Completing these missions early is useful for a large boost to research, possibly making subsequent Terran missions slightly easier to complete in Hard/Brutal difficulties.
Final
The Final missions can be started after completing Maw of the Void.
Caution: Once the player has finished Gates of Hell, unplayed missions on the Star Map will no longer be available. However, missions which have been previously completed will still be available to replay.
General Starcraft 2 Guides Campaign Guides
I've passed campaign once and want to do on the Brutal now.
After passing all 3 first missions I did the 'Smash and Grab' - the 1st artifact missions. Upon completion I've discovered that I don't have laboratory available.. Then I did 'The Evacuation' - the 1st colonist mission.
I've passed the missions twice: - 1st time on Brutal level. Here I've collected all 3 Zerg artifacts and used one 're-load'; - 2nd time on Hard level to get 'Sacrifice Nothing' achievement (Complete 'The Evacuation' mission on Hard difficulty without losing or salvaging a structure). Actually I've completed 'Handled with Care' achievement too (Complete 'The Evacuation' mission on Normal difficulty without losing a Transport Truck). And also I've collected all 3 Zerg artefacts on 2nd pass.
When I've visited the laboratory I've discovered that I have 4 Protoss research points and 6 (!) Zerg points.. Battlenet the application encountered an unexpected error key.
Question: What is a source of additional 3 Zerg points? As far as I know, till the end of all researches done no new research points are available when missions are completed.
Am I correct? Or each mission pass gives you all available missions research points?
P.S. Here is a similar question (I missed some research points in some levels, can I replay to get those points?), but it's answer is not clear for me.

If you're going back and RE-playing the missions, it'll take the research from the mission where you got the most research. So even if you did the normal mission and got 4 points, and then did the brutal mission and got 0 points, 4 points will be available in the next mission.
It won't double up though. I'm pretty sure about this: I did the whole campaign on hard, then went back and replayed every mission on brutal, and I know I didn't get extra research.

You are talking about a mission that is an option mission. You have the option of either saving the colony or purging it, whichever direction you choose first will be the only available research points you can earn, regardless of going back and replaying both mission possibilities. If you chose the zerg research, you cant go back and replay to earn the protoss research. You either have to load a save of the campaign before you made the decision or start a new campaign. Note, loading a previous game will lose any progress in the campaign, after the save point, however, achievements earned after the save point will still show as earned on your profile, but may not appear in your campaign. When all else fails, make detailed saves often, and check your profile when searching for achievements left to earn.
Note: during the media blitz level, destroying a civilian building in the bottom right corner unlocks the zeratul missions, allowing for 6 more research points, 3z 3p. Once you destroy the building, grab the files, finish the level, go the the laboratory and you will see a crystal in the bottom left.
Note: once you start the final missions on char, you cannot unlock the zeratul missions, load a previous save before going to char and start from there, you will have to replay some stuff.

Although it doesn't seem to be indicated on Liquipedia, I believe one of the Mar Sara missions gives you the extra three zerg points you are confused about.
